A logo ensures recognisability for your customers, a professional look and above all a good first impression. Use the 5 tips for a logo design to take an excellent first step.
Limits the number of fonts in a logo design. It may seem tempting to add different aspects to the logo, but this will make for a messy character. Use 1 - 2 fonts to ensure that there is sufficient coherence within the design. This also provides more clarity in the design.
Try to stay away from trends as much as possible. Trends are by definition temporary and ensure that your logo will look ‘outdated’ after a year or a bit longer. The logo will probably look beautiful today and fit the current developments, but quickly requires an update. Instead, choose a more timeless design. This ensures that the logo will continue to look good next year, allowing you to use it for longer.
Take the background in mind
Do
you design a logo? Take into account the influence of the background on
this. Do you have a green background on your own website and do the
colors come out well? Try the logo in combination with a white or black
background. There is a good chance that such a combination will arise,
for example when you are sponsoring and you can supply your logo. Does
the logo with those backgrounds still look so beautiful? Think ahead
when designing your logo and avoid ugly misses by trying out multiple
backgrounds.
Ask for the vector files
Always
ask for the vector files when designing a logo. A good logo designer
will automatically provide it to you, but it is not always clear to
everyone that this is of interest. The vector files of your logo ensure
that you have a scalable copy in your hands. Do you want to print your
logo in high resolution, or use it in a small format? You can do this
using the vector files.
Finally, let design a logo with preferably as little text as possible. A logo provides the first impression within a fraction of a second, or must immediately ensure recognisability. Your target audience does not have the time and motivation to read a full sentence, let alone understand it and understand it. Use up to a few words in the logo.
